Smalec earns award from USA Today

Andrea Smalec, senior public relations major in the Department of Journalism and Printing, has been selected by USA Today for honorable mention status on its All-USA College Academic Team.

Smalec of Mountain Home was the only Arkansas State University student selected. The award is based on grades, awards, activities, leadership roles and public service.

During the fall semester the National Public Relations Student Society of America selected Smalec to receive the National Gold Key Award. She was one of 19 honored in the national competition.

Smalec also serves as chair of ASU's Student Government Association.
