Convocation Scholars Banquet,
Friends Meeting Scheduled April 17
Shay Nanke, Robert Tabern and Andrea Smalec earned top honors at the
College of Communications Honors Banquet April 17.
Nanke, a senior with an emphasis in broadcast news, received four awards.
She was named the outstanding radio-television student by faculty and
the outstanding student by her student peers (the Paul Bond Award) and
honored as member of the year for the Association of Women in Communications
and outstanding member of the National Broadcasting Society.
Tabern and Smalec were designated as recpients of the Robert L. Hoskins
Award for Professioal Achievement. Tabern, who graduated in December 2001,
is a producer for WKJG-TV NBC 33 in Fort Wayne, Ind. Smalec is a senior
with an emphasis in public relations from Mountain Home. She also received
at Monday's university honors ceremony the Robert E. Lee Wilson Citizenship
Award, ASU's highest student award.
