The Student Government Association of Arkansas State University has faced many difficulties this semester. They've had conflicts within the organization concerning their personal relationships with one another, which was revealed at some of their meetings. They've struggled with finding ways to interact with students, trying to get them involved. They've dealt with SGA members resigning, including their adviser and the senate's lack of knowledge in running the meetings. To change the negative view several students have of SGA because of several mishaps, SGA wants to improve their student and constituent relationships. SGA President Andrea Smalec suggested a project idea for the Principles of Public Relations and the professor agreed to it. Smalec has visited the class on a couple of occasions and has met with the eight different groups to guide them. Though she is not a graduate assistant, she has been much involved in this project and she will continue to do so as she will attend the presentations and help grade them. Getting the students' feedback and critiques through this project was a smart move for SGA. They're making a step in the right direction to help serve the student body of ASU. Now, the students need to make a move: step out and get involved. |
