Hytrol vice president highlights
business banquet

The College of Business honored outstanding students, alumni,
and faculty at its Convocation of Scholars honors banquet.
The college honored distinguished alumni at the banquet.
Ken Copeland, vice president of manufacturing operations at
Hytrol Conveyor Company Inc. in Jonesboro, told students how
his experiences at Arkansas State University helped him form
the building blocks for the rest of his life.
Staying the course is hard," Copeland said. "Things
get in the way but you have to trust in yourself, stay the course,
and make some great friendships along the way."
He also told students to respect the associates they work
with.
"Respect the people you work with. Much of what we accomplish
we could not do without outstanding associates. Remember that
you are only as good as the people around you," Copeland
said.
The Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter honored St. Bernard's Healthcare
President Ben Owens and recognized Dr. Rick McDaniel, interim
vice chancellor of academic affairs, as a newly inducted honorary
member.
Associate Dean of the College of Business Dr. Bill Roe presented
the awards, along with departmental chairs.
Jan Duggar, dean of the college of business, was in Little
Rock.
Kawai R. Bradley received this year's Wall Street Journal
Award.
This is a national award that recognizes a graduating senior
who has shown service and achievement in the college.
The Presidential Scholar Award went to Amy E. Whitaker.
This award is given to the graduating senior with the highest
gpa in the college for the number of hours attempted. Whitaker
has a 4.0 gpa.
Neva Simunkovic received the Talbert/Carrothers Deans' Award
for the second highest gpa in the college.
Departmental awards were given to Angie Pickens, Neva Simunkovic,
Kevin Kercheval, Deatra Rieke, Keith Little, Christopher Stevens,
Barbara McClung, Lacey Johnson, Krystal Thurman, Amy Whitaker,
and Jeannie Cossey.
The college of business graduate award went to Rodney Haynes,
Paula Crumrin, and James Michael Borden.
The Dean's Award for Academic Excellence went to Stacey Berry,
Kathy Brackenrich, Kawia Bradley, Eun Hee Cho, Jeannie Cossey,
Kamala Cypret, Caroline Essman, Johnnie Gambill, Shane Hubbard,
Lacey Johnson, Barbara McClung, Amy McKinnon, Mary Napier-Mays,
Rita Newman, Loretta Petty, Angie Pickens, Deatra Rieke, Neva
Simunkovic, Christopher Stevens, Regina Thomas, Sarah Thompson,
Amber Turner, Jessica Walker, and Amy Johnson, Ki berly Kinkade,
Stephen McDrniel, Scott Oppennan, Britney Osswald, and Melinda
Pepper.
