College of Agriculture recognizes
outstanding students

Several outstanding students were recognized at the College
of Agriculture Honors Banquet Thursday evening in the Carl R.
Reng Center Ballroom.
Chad Towns was recognized as a Presidential Scholar, with a 3.86
overall GPA. Towns has also been accepted to the Louisiana State
University Veterinary School.
The Olen P. Nail Award, named for a former dean of the college
and given to the outstanding junior of the college, was awarded
to Kimberly Hurst, who has a GPA of 3.48.
Six students were recognized as outstanding graduating seniors
by the college. In the emphasis area of agriculture, Phillip
Jackson II was the outstanding graduating senior. For agricultural
business, the outstanding senior was Eric Nail.
In agricultural education, the outstanding seniors were Charissa
Moore and Tracy Ann Lee. Presidential Scholar Chad Towns was
the outstanding senior for animal science, and in plant science,
the outstanding senior was Laura King.
Outstanding club members recognized were: for the Agricultural
Business Club, Charles Nicholson; for the Block and Bridle Club,
Leanna Teegarden; for Collegiate FFA, Michael Person; for Delta
Tau Alpha, Stephen Watson and Jamie Martin; for the Plant Science
Club, Melissa Smith.
A number of scholarships were also awarded at the banquet.
Allied Industries Scholarship: Codi Allen, Bobbie Hoots, Bryce
Blackman, Leanna Teegarden and Ashley Wheeler.
Arkansas Agricultural Consultants Association Scholarship:

Arkansas Flower& Garden Scholarship: Melissa Smith.
Arkansas Plant Food Society: Charles Jones and Vincent
Kerperien.
Arkansas Seed Dealers Association Scholarship: Joseph Neal.
Arkansas State Federation of Farm Credit Stockholders Scholarship:
Jay McLain.
Busch Agricultural Scholarship: Justin Threlkeld and Phillip
Jackson II.
G. Robert Blanchard Scholarship: Chad Froud.
Golightly Foundation Scholarship: Amanda Anderson, Sach Oliver,
Justin Threlkeld and Samuel Vaught.
Jim Sloan Memorial Scholarship: Charissa Moore.
Little Rock Grain Exchange Scholarship: Elisabeth Howell and
Paul Scott Poag.
Dr. Olen P. Nail Scholarship: Phillip Jackson II.
National Council of State Garden Clubs: Melissa Smith.
