Student hit by car in crosswalk

Saturday, Nov. 25, 2001

· Salvador Carranga of Jonesboro was arrested for a driving while intoxicated at 2:42 a.m. Reports state he was pulled over after almost causing an accident with a UPD officer at the intersection of Melrose and Aggie Road. Carranga gave police the name of Juan Valbiva, but the officer found an Arkansas Identification Card with the name Salvador Carranga. Carranga was charged with a DWI, criminal impersonation, no driver's license and failure to yield.

Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001

· A graduate student of Jonesboro reported at 10 p.m. that a vehicle had struck him at 7:30 p.m. the day before while he was crossing a crosswalk. The car ran a stop sign and struck him. He landed on the hood of the car and received minor injuries. The car left the scene of the crime without stopping.

Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001

· Nelson Gomez of Jonesboro reported the theft of his wallet at 6 p.m. from the library.

Friday, Nov. 9, 2001

· Derek Krause of Dallas reported a terroristic threat at 10 a.m. He said on Nov. 1, a man came up to him and said, "If the appeal on the Sig Ep fraternity is denied, I will make you a quadriplegic," and then walked away. The man was told not to have any further contact with Krause, and will meet with the Student Affairs Judicial Dean's Office.

Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001

· Debra Walden of Jonesboro reported the theft of items from a lab in the Nursing building. She said that the male and female genitalia were missing from the dummy instructional mannequins.

· Raashun Allison of Jonesboro reported the theft of a Panasonic microphone and battery. He said that while he was shooting video clips, someone stole the case containing the above items.

· A female of Jonesboro reported harassing phone calls at 8:40 a.m.

Monday, Nov. 5, 2001

· Gregory Zdaniuk of Jonesboro reported the theft of his bike from the Lab Science West building at 10 p.m.

  When walking, choose well lit, busy streets and avoid vacant lots, alleys, or construction sites.
