Printing
Services has been an integral part of Arkansas State University for
over 50 years. Over the past half century Printing Services has grown
and changed tremendously. As the printing industry has changed and progressed,
Printing Services has progressed from typesetting metal slugs and printing
with letterpresses to computer design and typesetting and computer controlled
high speed offset presses. Adaptation will continue as it applies to
serving our customers' needs.
ASU
Printing Services has won prestigeous awards for quality over the years
and some of our recent work has received recognition for superb print
quality. And, yet, at the same time we continually strive to improve
efficiencies to keep our costs as low as possible. We pledge to give
the same care and quality production to a simple business form as we
do to a full color magazine.
In
addition, the printing plant is used by students in the Printing Management
degree program as their laboratory. The students observe and often gain
hands-on experience with our printing equipment and procedures. A number
of Printing Management students are employed each semester to work part-time
in our facility. Journalism students are also involved with Printing
Services, and "The Herald" student newspaper is printed on
our NewsKing web press.
Because
ASU offers a 4 year degree in Printing Management, many companies and
manufacturers lend their support in a variety of ways. Some have furnished
funds to help fund student field trips, others have donated equipment
and supplies.
We
provide tours of our facility for anyone interested in viewing the printing
plant. Please feel free to call to schedule a brief tour. Printing Services
is located south of the ASU Library in the Ed/Comm Building, Room 161.
